A Third Generation, Family Owned Company

Albert Weiss
Founder

The Weiss story begins with Albert Weiss, a Hungarian immigrant who started his mechanical contracting company in the late 1950s. Spending most of his youth in the Midwest, Al served in the US Navy during World War II before going on to get his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. Building a team of the industry’s premier talent, Al’s Detroit based mechanical contracting firm evolved over the years into a general contractor, specializing in water and wastewater now known as The Weiss Group. Al’s exceptional affinity for mechanical and process systems is what drove Weiss’ success in self performing, a virtue we hold to this day.

Over 60 years later, we strive to perpetuate the culture established by our founder, Albert. Al’s values of integrity, ambition, balance, and responsibility built the foundations of our organization and are paramount to its ongoing success.
