Self-Performing Capabilities: Prime or Subcontractor

Historically, Weiss Construction has been recognized as a General Contractor specializing in Water and Wastewater work that self performs its own mechanical and process equipment/piping work. However, over the last two decades, our company has developed considerable self-performing capabilities in other areas, and we now self-perform the vast majority of the work on our projects.

We believe that our extensive self-performing capabilities provide significant benefit to the Owners we serve. By greatly reducing the number of subcontractors involved in the build process we are better able to control the pace of construction and quickly adjust our operations to avoid unnecessary work sequence delays when unexpected issues or conditions arise. Construction Management/CMAR

The Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) is a project delivery method in which the owner hires a construction manager (CM) to oversee the project from design to construction close-out and deliver it with a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) provided to the owner prior to the bid stage. Because the CM could be responsible for paying the difference when going over budget, the CM must closely manage the project budget and schedule to stay within the GMP. CMAR is a project delivery method not to be confused with Construction Manager Agency (CMA), which describes a relationship whereas the CM legally represents the client and makes project-specific decisions.
